Hazánkban még a mai napig aktív Fekete László honosította meg ezt a sportágat. A nemzetközi színtéren már hosszú évek óta működik a sportág elitjét folyamatos versenyzési lehetőséghez juttató Strongman Champions League. Idén ennek egyik állomása Magyarország volt, pontosabban Pécs. Végül 10 ország versenyzői jöttek el, hogy eldöntsék ki a legerősebb a vidéken. A speciális versenyszámok, traktorkerék forgatás, autó húzás, lengősúly, vikingnyomás, farmerséta 140 kg-os kofferekkel, kőgolyópakolás, maximálisan próbára tették a versenyzőket. Végül az egész nap emberfeletti teljesítményt nyújtó "erősemberekből" a legjobbnak a regnáló világbajnok, a litván Zydrunas Savickas bizonyult.
Few years ago just few men did that sport, which seems for the viewers better funny and the parade of the power. But in the last years it went through a huge development. Today it is scored in the international scene, as well. That confirm, that since more years exists the Strongman Champions League, which organise permanently championships for the elite of the sportsmen. In 2009. one station of these competitions was in Hungary, in town Pécs. Sportsmen from 10 countries were fighting for the victory. Special events and exercises, like tyre flip, car pull, super yok min 400kg., Viking pressing, farmer’s walk with 140 kg heavy suitcases, stoneballpacking put the competitors through their paces. Finally the lithuanian Zydrunas Savickas won this heroic fight from these strongmen.
